From Ghana

TfaC Ghana is currently working directly in 112 communities in 3 Regions of Ghana (Greater Accra, Eastern, and Central Regions) with funding from TfaC UK, Global Fund, UNFPA, ICCO & KERK IN ACTIE, and Ghana AIDS Commission.

Activities being implemented in these communities include:

  • Training: Young people are trained as Community Facilitators and Peer Educators to work as Volunteers in the communities
  • Behaviour Change Workshops: Trained Community Facilitators form focus groups of young people in their communities and take them through 6 weeks of Behaviour Change Workshops focusing on providing quality information on HIV and AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health
  • Interactive Theatre Performances: Trained Theatre Facilitators form Theatre groups in their communities and occasionally stage performances to educate people on Sexual and Reproductive Health as well as advocate for a supportive environment that promote sexual and reproductive health rights
  • Condom Promotion and Distribution: Trained Peer Educators and Community Facilitators have established non-traditional condom sales outlets in their communities and manages them to promote safer sex especially by young people
  • Mobile Outreach Counseling and Testing: Health Personnel from Ghana Health Service are attached to our community outreach programmes to provide HIV Counseling and Testing services to people in the communities where we work
  • Peer Education: Trained Peer Educators provide one-on-one and small group discussions on HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health on a daily basis in the communities where we work
