Gender Equality campaign
The Gender Equality Campaign is inspired by the understanding that HIV infections are driven by gender inequality.
Power relationships between women and men, girls and boys, are so imbalanced that it makes safe, consensual sex difficult for young people in Malawi to negotiate. Young women between the ages of 15-24 years of age are 5 times more likely to be HIV positive than their male peers.
Our Campaign is targeted at this imbalance, and seeks to provide a postive message to young people in Malawi that gender balance brings health and happiness.
The slogan 'Mofanana Mphamvu, Kuchepetsa HIV' means More Equality means Less HIV. We are looking to promote this message through our T Shirts, Caps and the animated films which Luke Whittaker and Nancy Ellis have made with a group of participants from Malawi.
We're really excited by our campaign, and would like to thank 300Million for designing the campaign materials.'
