International Women’s Day 2015

This year, on International Women’s Day, we want to acknowledge and celebrate the extraordinary efforts of the international community to promote gender equality and empower women and girls throughout the world.

Whilst we remain positive in our efforts, we cannot ignore the fact that inequalities of gender are still very much alive in the world today and consistently stop women and girls from realising their potential.

Our supporter Annie Lennox wrote this powerful article in the Guardian last week highlighting just how much there is still to do in the world to advance the position of women and girls in global society.

In response to this we want to create a space for women from within our organisation and outside it to reflect on their own experiences of what it means to be a woman in their community and the challenges they face.

Engage in the discussion on our twitter page or on facebook.

  • What is the greatest challenge you face being a woman?

  • What makes you proud to be a woman?

  • What do you notice about power dynamics between women and men in your life?
