Theatre for a Change and VSO Partnership Film - Interactive Theatre Training 2017-18 (Short)
Watch the inspiring story of how our new Interactive Theatre Training projects in Bangladesh, Nepal, Rwanda, Swaziland and Tanzania unfolded, told by our participants. All footage was filmed as a collaborative effort by our trainers, using their camera phones. Working in partnership with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), we are training young people how to use Interactive Theatre as a catalyst for change in their communities – influencing community attitudes around issues such as child marriage, teen pregnancy, HIV prevention and communication between parents and children around sex. Interactive Theatre for Justice to Prevent Child Marriage in Bangladesh
Watching this short film transports you to the heart of an Interactive Theatre for Justice (ITJ) performance in Parbatipur, Bangladesh with the aim of involving the audience to find solutions to the complex problem of child marriage. Bangladesh has the highest rate of girls being married under the age of 15 anywhere in the world. The performers are young change makers from across Bangladesh who took part in our ITJ training in partnership with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO). They learnt how to use Interactive Theatre in their communities in order to influence community attitudes in favour of ending child marriage and supporting girls' education. This performance was on the last day of their training in front of a large audience of around 500 people, including local power holders and Dr. Rosena Allin-Khan - a visiting British MP. At the suggestion of the audience, the power holders took part in changing the story to create more justice for the characters involved. The performance ended with the power holders making specific commitments to do more to end child marriage in their communities.

Vaccine Facts Radio, an Africa Check and Theatre for a Change Collaboration in Nigeria
This video was made by Valor Pictures in Nigeria as part of the collaboration between Africa Check and Theatre for a Change to combat COVID-19 misinformation, supported by the Google News Initiative. Each week, the team produces a live one-hour broadcast that challenges audiences to replace characters in a pre-recorded drama, in order to fact-check misinformation and assert the facts about the COVID-19 vaccine.
