About Theatre for a Change (TfaC)

Theatre for a Change (TfaC) is a Malawian NGO established in 2007, working to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, and the empowerment of women and girls through participatory learning and drama-based approaches.

TfaC is seeking an experienced and independent Internal Auditor Consultant to strengthen organisational governance, internal controls, risk management, and compliance systems.

 

Purpose of the Role

The Internal Auditor Consultant will provide independent assurance and advisory support by reviewing financial, operational, and programme systems, identifying risks, and recommending improvements to strengthen accountability, transparency, and organisational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct periodic internal audits of financial, operational, procurement, and programme processes.

  • Review internal controls and assess compliance with organisational policies, donor requirements, and regulatory standards.

  • Identify risks and provide practical recommendations for improvement.

  • Review financial management systems, expenditure controls, asset management, and reporting processes.

  • Support preparation for external audits, donor assessments, and due diligence reviews.

  • Prepare audit reports and follow up on implementation of recommendations.

  • Provide advisory support to strengthen governance and accountability systems.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or related field.

  • Professional qualifications (ACCA, CPA, CIA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in internal auditing, compliance, risk management, or financial management.

  • Experience working with NGOs or donor-funded organizations is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and governance principles.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report writing skills.

 

Consultancy Arrangement

This is a consultancy position based in Lilongwe. The successful consultant will be engaged on a quarterly basis, providing periodic support based on organizational needs, including internal audit reviews, risk assessments, and advisory services.
