Our Work in the UK
(2003-2026)
In the UK, we trained facilitators to deliver projects internationally, both for Theatre for a Change and in partnership with other NGOs working with at-risk groups.
We also supported our partners to deliver high quality programmes that had maximum impact to empower marginalised and vulnerable women and girls.
The UK team focused on the development of specific organisational areas that helped our partners achieve their goals. These included:

Governance – UK trustees developed a shared vision for the organisation and strong links with Directors internationally.

Organisational Strategy and Programme Planning – the development and accreditation of quality training manuals.

Monitoring and Evaluation – the development of an organisational Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework which enabled the measurement and comparison of impact across our projects. We actively shared learning from projects with NGOs and partners internationally.

Financial Management – robust financial management procedures and implementation, with a focus on ensuring cost effectiveness and value for money across all our operations.

Fundraising and Communications – the development of a sustainable fundraising portfolio and strong, cohesive internal and external communications.

Shifting Power from the UK to Malawi
(2026)
Theatre for a Change has always been driven by a single principle: the rebalance of power.
With this principle in mind, on 31 March 2026, we shifted our global headquarters to Malawi, and our UK office closed.
This transition marked the fulfillment of years of intentional work to ensure that our organisation's leadership was rooted where our impact was greatest.
We would like to thank the many individuals who contributed their time, talents and expertise to Theatre for a Change UK over the years - especially our UK Trustees who steered this journey of shifting power:
